When I first began writing posts for this blog, I did not intend to use a rating system. Posts turned out a bit longer than expected and each had its own focus (or maybe, lack thereof), and I thought readers might benefit from a standard rating system if they were looking to compare a few restaurants or browse the site quickly. After some contemplation, I decided to implement a single 5-point rating system, heavily weighted towards food quality. Though ingenuity of dishes, price, atmosphere, and service also contribute. If you become a regular visitor you’ll notice that it takes a lot to blow me away and many of the places at which I dine end up with an average rating. If you find this frustrating, then I encourage you to read each review in its entirety.
You’ll also notice a Small Bites section under Categories. This is reserved for more every day fare and selfishly, provides a soap box from which I can yell about some of my favorite casual spots in New York. Venues under the Small Bites section do not have star ratings; instead, they’re in a category all by themselves.
Eat up!
